Hi my loves! Don’t we all have this one dream once in a while: Coming or even living in/to NYC. The City that says from itself that it never sleeps.Isn’t it the dream of walking down Broadway, eat breakfast at Tiffany’s, having a Sex and the City moment at Time Square, feeling like Gossip Girl at the Upper East Side and just have the most amazing Picnic at Central Park.
I was lucky enough to spend a week in this City that lives from its myths and I’m able to tell you guys about all the insiders and special spots I went in NYC that are nothing like a typical tourist trip. I will show you the hotels to stay, the best restaurants to eat, the best bars for a drink like water ;), where to shop and just simply where you get to know that true NY experience everyone is talking about!
THE PERFECT ACCOMMODATION IN NEW YORK
1. THE DREAM DOWNTOWN MEATPACKING DISTRICT
Like the name already says this hotel is a dream come true! This hotel is truly a piece of art in it self because every room and every single piece of furniture has an own special touch to it. At the same time it just represents so well the rustic multicultural vibrant style in the meatpacking district. I have to mention that it is quiet pricey so if you do not have the money for it just come and have Lunch in the all organic dream café. Its going to be worth it!
2. NYLO HOTEL UPPER WEST SIDE
So the Nylo is for people who do not necessary are looking for the most craziest hotel. The entrance is beautifully rustic and the open windows everywhere give you the impression of allot of space! The rooms are kept simple style wise but big which is not particular common in New York. The bathroom and its shower is huge like the rest of the room so its perfect for people who stay longer than 2 nights.
3. THE STANDARD MEATPACKING DISTRICT
The Standard is just nothing like the standard. If you come there you will experience what true service is! Furthermore the modern chic and simple look is just never out of style. Ps: The view out of the rooms is to die for..
Lets talk Food:
1. THE HUMMUS PLACE UPPER WEST SIDE ( GREAT FOR VEGANS)
The Hummus Place is a small restaurant and different to most other American restaurants not ice cold because of the overdose of air conditioning so you directly have a warm and cozy feel when you come inside and the smell of oriental flavors go up your nose. The kitchen is open so if you have nothing to do you can be entertained by simply watching the cooks do their work. Like the name of restaurant already says its all about Hummus. You cant imagine how many kinds of hummus they have and most important for such amazing food the price is really low. Defiantly check it out!
2. GRIMALDI’S THE MOST FAMOUS PIZZA IN THE WORLD, BROOKLYN
Smiling and laughing people are coming out of the door and a small old Italian man winked us into the restaurant. We were lucky others told us after that we only needed to wait for 25 minutes. ” Normally the line is all around the block” said a Guy to us when we asked him if it would be worth waiting. Honestly, I was very skeptical at first but when I entered the restaurant I was just overwhelmed by everything. Imagine Italian music with people talking and laughing all around you, an amazing smell of stone baked Pizza, servers rushing in an elegant way around you and directly in front of you 3 men with mustaches throwing the dough in the air and drizzling the tomato sauce on top like they never did anything else. We sat very close together at a tiny table with a red checkered tablecloth. You can only order Pizza! Nothing else. The Pizzas are huge and so delicious and fresh. Maybe not the Pizza in the world but maybe the greatest Pizza place…
3. THE LAND THAI, UPPER WEST SIDE
One of the Thai places I’ve ever been. Overall just an amazing range of food and full of flavor.
THE BEST BAR AND THE HOT SPOTS OF NEW YORK
THE NOVOTEL ROOF TOP BAR AT TIME SQUARE
THE HIGH LINE PARK
So now it comes down to you If you wanna go to New York or not. Just one last tip: Discovering New York and the special ( maybe even secret) places is best by feet so do not be lazy and walk!
